Art?

Capital cans

The National Gallery in Edinburgh is hosting a Warhol exhibit, they've decorated in an appropriate manner.

In the short time it took me to grab a couple of pictures I twice heard "They cannie dae that" and gave up counting the "soupers" after five. So that saves me the bother.

Renting out

Available August

It's been a terrible British summer, it took four days to get a break in the clouds long enough to get these pictures taken. These are the ones that appear in the letting advert. Anyone want to live in a Seventies house with a panoramic view of an oil refinery?

Clearing out

Marty's cards
Originally uploaded by amasc

We move next month and we're clearing out in a big way, huge amounts of documents being sifted, sorted and saved or shredded, mostly the latter. The shredder was getting slow and yesterday gave up the ghost when the motor burned out forcing us to buy another. However, not everything gets shredded, postcards are kept, the picture above is a small selection from Marty who travels a lot and seeks out outragously bad cards from his destinations. Incidentally he also rants and whinges wonderfully on the back of most of them.

Strikes and spares

That which can't be shredded gets given away. We've found a good home for the pinball which is more of a pet than a machine, it's going to get it's own 70s themed room complete with jukebox. Something so fabulously tacky deserves such treatment

Bland kitchen - Bad Kitchen

Bland kitchen
Originally uploaded by amasc

We had a plan when we moved into this house. A new kitchen, something in steel and dark wood and maybe duckegg blue with fantastic flags on the floors and probably an extension. The kind of thing that will look magnificent for about two years before it becomes impossibly dated but by that time you've stopped noticing it anyway.

As is the way with plans they didn't turn out exactly as envisioned. Once we decided to rent out the house bland, beech-type cupboards and slate-esque worksurfaces were ordered. So lacking in distinction is this installation that I had to put some lemons out to stop everything fading to beige.

Bad Kitchen

Ugly kitchen 1

The original kitchen HAD to go even though it was classic 70s Brown Movement. Three different brown patterns on worktops, walls and the floor, even the hob was in two shades of brown.

So sore

Injections

A milestone was reached with the sixth of the eleven injections required/recommended. We hit the jackpot with four in one week but so far so lucky and side effects have been minimal.

A certain person gets special cream to put on which dulls sensation in the site because he's a wuss. He outright refused to let me take a picture of the cream on his backside, not only a wuss but a spoilsport too!

So so-so.

This is going to be a learning experience, I have done absolutely no research on how blogs work but signing up was easy and free. The plan is to use this as a repository for images, news and reflections on our move to Vietnam, alternatively, it may just end up as one of those single post blogs that never get beyond setting up.

Time will tell.
